A antena emite sinais de radar FM de alta frequ\u00eancia, e a frequ\u00eancia do sinal de radar aumenta linearmente. Os sinais de radar FM s\u00e3o recebidos pela mesma antena depois de serem reflectidos do meio medido. Ao mesmo tempo, a diferen\u00e7a de frequ\u00eancia entre o sinal transmitido e o sinal recebido est\u00e1 em propor\u00e7\u00e3o direta com a dist\u00e2ncia medida.
